Mornings with Lloyd

Lloyd welcomed us to the neighborhood the day we moved in. We were about family #6 at the time and it was amazing to watch him welcome each family as they moved in. I was so amazed he knew everyones name - first and last. This Spring we got a dog and never being a morning person before I became one then. Ever morning Matilda and I went for a walk which always included a visit with Lloyd. He would grab her leash and she would sit as his feet while we visited. We talked about what the weather was going to be that day, any new developments in the neighborhood as there was always a house in the process of being built and interesting shows we have seen on TV we both had a likening for those Alaska wilderness reality shows! I knew he was a meat and potatoes guy (just like my own dad was) so whenever I was cooking a roast or pork chops I'd tell him that morning not to bother cooking as I'd be up with some dinner for him. If we walked by and he wasn't sitting out Matilda would still trot up the driveway and sniff around where he normally sat. The last time I talked to him was Xmas eve when I dropped off a plate of cookies from our neighborhood cookie exchange. Just a small gesture from the ladies of the neighborhood for his smile and kindness all year long. We chatted for several minutes and wished each other Merry Christmas. Please accept my sympathy on the loss of your dad, he was a great friend to all he met and he will really be missed.
