Lloyd C. Steffen, 76, of Asbury, formerly of Epworth, died of natural causes at home Saturday, January 3, 2015. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 pm Thursday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road. where there will be a parish wake service at (time). Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Resurrection. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League.
Lloyd was born January 19, 1938 in Worthington, Iowa, son of Sylvester and Marie (Lehman) Steffen. He served in the US Army for two years. On June 8, 1963 he married Jane Ann Kurt at St. Patrick's, North Garryowen.
Lloyd farmed near Epworth for many years before retiring to the Dubuque area. He enjoyed Fishing, hunting, carpentry, coffee club and “watching over his neighbors.” He was always ready to help anyone who needed it.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jane Ann of Dubuque; a son Dan (Cindy) Steffen of Austin, Texas; five daughters, Kathy (Henry) Busby of Carrollton, Texas, Joan Steffen of Dubuque, Cheryl (Steve) Junion of La Grange, Kentucky, Michelle (Cody) Estling of Center Point, Iowa, and Lori (Martin) Severson of Phillips, Wisc.; grandchildren, Jacob Steffen; Derek and Kassandra Busby; Seth, Madison, and Drew Junion; and Ben, Ryan and Noah Estling; a brother, Loras (Wendy) Steffen of Coralville, Iowa; brothers and sisters in law and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Richard; parents; sisters, Norma Kean and Lois Scherbring; and a brother, Robert Steffen.
A Lloyd Steffen memorial fund has been established.
