Obituary for Gina M Danner

Gina M. Danner 59, of Dubuque, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 27th at home surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church with Rev. David Schatz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Rd. where a parish scripture wake service will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
Gina was born on July 22, 1959 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of William “Bill” and Joyce (Pusateri) Huss. She graduated from Wahlert High School in 1977 and remained lifelong friends with many classmates. On September 19, 1987, Gina married the love of her life, Kevin J. Danner. Together they celebrated thirty-one memorable years of marriage and were blessed with three daughters, Ashley, Alyssa and Alexandra “Ali”. She went to work at Dubuque Orthodontics Associates for several years before deciding to take a break to raise her three daughters at home. If raising three daughters did not keep her busy enough, Gina also opened a small gift shop located in the Ice Harbor Emporium and The Fussy Lady. In addition, she worked side by side with her husband owning and operating Tri A Transportation trucking company for twelve years. Gina returned to Dubuque Orthodontics Associates after a nearly 20-year break and was very devoted to her job, even through her difficult treatments.
Gina enjoyed following her daughters’ activities and was their #1 cheerleader through sports and life. She always found time to volunteer at St. Columbkille School and church functions. She enjoyed walking for exercise and would often walk in the mornings before work with her husband Kevin and good friend/neighbor Jeanie. Gina had an eye for decorating. She loved hosting family holidays and will be remembered for her tiny Christmas cookies and turning her home into a Christmas wonderland. You would often find Gina relaxing by her pool on hot summer days.
Gina will always be remembered as the best mom, wife, friend and “Stick” (a nickname she was given for her love of sticky buns). She will forever be held close to our hearts, reminding us “IT’S A GOOD DAY FOR A GOOD DAY”.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Kevin ; her daughters Ashley (fiancé’ Chris Esch) Danner, Alyssa (Jason) Leutzinger and Ali (Zach Althaus) Danner; her favorite grand-dog Gable Leutzinger; her parents Bill and Joyce Huss; her siblings Steve (Joanne) Huss, Todd (Kim) Huss, Sharon (Kelly) Meyers, Cara (Jim) Marek; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Barb (Jim) Jaeger, Robert (Kim) Danner, Nancy (Jeff) Schueller, Diane (Jim) Wuebker, Sharon (Rob) Welborn and Ellen Danner; many nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Frank and Anna Pusateri; her paternal grandparents Marie (Art Huss) and Irvin Meyer and her mother and father-in-law, Harold and Arlene Danner.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque or the Michael W. Oglesby Foundation which aides in furthering pancreatic cancer research.

The Danner family wishes to express heartfelt thank you to Dr. Hermann and his staff at Grand River Medical Group and Hospice of Dubuque for their exceptional care throughout her journey.
