Frederick C  Voels
Frederick C. "Fred" Voels, 66 of East Dubuque, formerly of Kaufmann Avenue in Dubuque, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 1780 White Street, Dubuque. Family will greet friends 3 pm. - 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home & Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Rd., additional visitation will be one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. Burial with Military Honors at Linwood Cemetery.

Fred was born September 14, 1947, the son of Frederick Martin and Loretta Barbara (Hillery) Voels. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1965. Fred was drafted into the US Army in 1966 and served in Vietnam. He married Barbara Ann Blakeman on April 8, 1967, she passed away on January 12, 2001. Fred later married Sue Tinkham on October 5, 2002, they then resided in East Dubuque. He worked for All Seasons Heating and Cooling since 1986. Fred was a long time member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and served as a Deacon. He also worked security for the Dubuque Fighting Saints starting in the early 1980's until the late 1990's. Fred enjoyed playing softball, fishing and playing his guitar. He could do a great Willie Nelson impersonation when he sang and learned to play by ear. Fred was always the person to call when someone needed something and was a "Hero" to many family, and close friends.

Survivors include his wife, Sue; children, Jody (Daniel) Kruser of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, and Jill Oglesby of Dubuque; grandchildren, Alexander McCarthy, Jacob Hubanks, Madison Kruser, Porter Oglesby, and Paris Oglesby; a sister, Mary (Richard) Mishler of Spirit Lake, Iowa; in-laws, Merlin (Cindy) Tinkham, Robert (Donna) Tinkham, Mark Tinkham, Sandy Zirkelbach, Jackie (Gary) Fullbright, Denise (Kim) Brestrup; and his registered poodle, Midnight Marcus Voels.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Barbara Ann Voels; in-laws, Wayne Lock, Ronald Blakeman, and Dennis Zirkelbach.

The family would like to thank Dr. Herman and Staff and Hospice of Dubuque for your care during this difficult time.

A memorial fund had been established in Fred's memory.
