Obituary for Cleo C Zaszczurynski (Schmitt)
Cleo C. Zaszczurynski, 94, of Dubuque, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 1 at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Road. Friends may greet the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 30 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens.
Cleo was born on March 17, 1920 in Graf, Iowa, the daughter of William and Frances (Albert) Schmitt. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Those left to honor her memory include her children: , Jo Ann Francois, Kim Burdt, and Kathy Kellogg all of Dubuque, Michael (Stephanie) Durkin of Silver Spring, Maryland, Timothy (Kathy) Durkin of Dyersville, Iowa and a daughter-in-law, Sue Durkin of Sarasota, Florida; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; her sister Dorothy Avenarius and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Joseph Plein, Paul Durkin and Leon Zaszczurynski; 3 sons, Patrick Durkin, Bill Plein, Martin Durkin; a daughter, Janie Feldman; 4 brothers and 10 sisters.
The family would like to thank the staff of Bethany Home and Hospice of Dubuque.
A memorial fund has been established in Cleo’s memory.
