Jay L  Sawvel
Jay L. Sawvel, 50, of Dubuque, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Visitation will be held from 2-6 Monday with a prayer service immediately following at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road.
Jay was born November 9, 1966 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Larry Sawvel and Karen Licht-Samuelson.
Jay was a man full of life and loved having a good time with his friends and family. You could always find Jay with a smile on his face whether it was swimming in the Mississippi, spending time with his dog pepper, or spending time with those closest to him. Jay worked construction for his uncles business for a number of years before making the switch to Hormel.
He is survived by his son J.J. Sawvel (Tara Barnhart), of Dubuque, his mother Karen (Rick) Licht-Samuelson of Machesney Park, IL, his siblings Scott (Melissa) Sawvel of Roscoe, IL, Tammy (Mike) Nolan of Roscoe, IL, Cory Sawvel, Kevin Sawvel, and Jeff Sawvel all of Clarksville, Iowa, Grandma Katie Sawvel and special friend Tammy lardie.
He was preceded in death by his father Larry Sawvel, cousin Kenny Licht, and his grandparents Donald & Margie Licht, and Arlene Licht
The family would like to thank Tammy Lardie for taking care of Jay the past few years.
