Obituary for Evelyn Hickey (Truitt)

Evelyn  Hickey (Truitt)
Evelyn “Eve” Hickey (Truitt), of Dubuque, IA, died peacefully in her home on June 12, 2017.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 16 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A visitation will be held from 9-10:45 a.m., Friday at the Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Rd is in charge of the arrangements.
Born March 31, 1929 in Independence, IA, Eve graduated from Independence High School in 1947 and from St. Francis Nurses College in 1951, serving as a nurse in the Dubuque area for many years. She married David L. Hickey on August 10, 1953.
Eve was a devoted wife to David L. Hickey and loving mother of six children: Mike (Sue) Hickey, Dubuque, IA; Mary (Tim) Biedermann, Sherrill, IA; Cathy (Bob) Sand, Seattle, WA; Barb (Dave) Lechnir, East Dubuque, IL; Pat Hickey, Dubuque, IA; and Tom (Barb) Hickey, Dubuque, IA. She was a most loving grandparent to 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Eve is survived by her sister, Shirley Towne, of South Carolina.
Eve was also a proud member of Breast of Friends, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, making trips with her children to Gay Mills every fall, and gracing family and friends with her homemade recipes.
In lieu of flowers an Evelyn Hickey Memorial Fund has been established.
All that we are, all that we will become, all that we will ever be. Thank you, Mom.
