Cletus A  Davis
Cletus A. Davis, 84, of Dubuque, passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 12 at St. John Lutheran Church, 1276 White St, Dubuque. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in St. Donatus. Visitation will be from 3:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 11 at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Rd, Dubuque. There will be an additional visitation from 9:00 until the time of service at the church on Friday.

Cletus was born on January 9, 1932 in Colesburg, IA, son of Charles and Lillian (Cole) Davis. He served in the Army during the Korean War. On July 14, 1956, he married Mildred Hueneke at St. John Lutheran Church in St. Donatus, IA.

He was employed for 27 years at Caradco and for 19 years for the Dubuque Community School District before retiring in 1994. Cletus was also volunteered at the Boys Club in the woodshop for over 30 years.

Cletus was a resident of Dubuque for over 50 years and a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Dubuque.

Cletus was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. He enjoyed playing guitar with his friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Mildred; their children, Lonny (Julie) Davis, Kevin (Tammy) Davis, Randall (Kelli) Davis, Julie (Mark Hammer) Davis, and Pam (John) Gregorich; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and a sister, Minnie Ward.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.

In lieu of flowers, a donations may be given to the Boys and Girls Club of Dubuque.
