Obituary for Robert Steger
Robert J. Steger, 84, died Wednesday September 16, 2015 at Stonehill Care Center.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday at the Church of the Resurrection in Dubuque, IA, where a visitation will be held from 9:30 until the times of services. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, where Military Honors will be accorded by The Dubuque Marine Corps League. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Road is in charge of the arrangements.
Bob was born on May 29, 1931 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Arnold and Dora (Cruzan) Steger.
He attended Holy Ghost and Dubuque Senior High School. On March 31, 1951 he married Joyce Kall.
Bob served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, woodworking and traveling. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection.
Surviving is his wife, Joyce; his children, Melinda (Jim) Dolphin, of Liberty, MO, Lorele(Joe) Thompson, of Evansdale, IA, Drs. Kurt (Vivian) Steger, of Goodhue, MN, Eric (Chrissy )Steger of Long Island City, NY, Mark Steger of Kansas City, MO, and Heidi (Craig) Desormeaux of Dubuque, IA. Robert is also survived by his sister Joan (George) Hahn of Vinton, IA, Eight grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren, and 5 nieces and 1 nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold (Dora) Steger.
