Obituary for Reece N Shaw
Reece N. Shaw. 78 of Dubuque, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2015 at the Church of The Resurrection with Father Mark Murphy officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corp League. Private burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2015 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Rd. where a parish scripture wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m.
Reece was born on March 29, 1937 in Littleport, Iowa, the son of Adrian and Lina (Liddy) Shaw. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and was a supervisor at John Deere Dubuque Works for 27 years. On October 6, 1956, Reece married Ann Ahmann. He retired from John Deere in June of 1986 and that same year, started a career in real estate with Brissey Realty. Reece was a member of Resurrection parish, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a charter member of Knights of Columbus Council 5513 of Peosta and enjoyed softball, bowling and golf.
Surviving are his wife, Ann of Dubuque; his children, Mark (Cindy) Shaw of Dubuque, Linda (Matthew) Maas of Peosta, Iowa and John Shaw of Clive, Iowa; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Doug) Jasper, Eric and Melissa Maas, Dustin, Katlyn and Taylor Shaw; a great grandson, Matthew Shaw and his sister, Wanda Schaller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Shaw; his sisters and brother-in-laws, Virginia (Kenneth) Rieck and Sharon (Ted) Hoerstman; an infant sister Sandra Shaw, a brother-in-law, Clarence Schaller and Terry Shaw.
A Reece N. Shaw memorial fund has been established.
