Naida M. Humke, 84, of Dubuque died Friday, March 13, 2015 at Ennoble Manor. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 to 8 pm at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road.
Naida was born March 3, 1931 in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Vince and Vivian (Sowle) Messerknecht. She was a 1949 graduate and Class Vice President of Dubuque Senior High School. On December 31, 1949 she married Donald Humke at Third Presbyterian Church.
She worked at Randall’s, Theisen’s, and the Shaggy Dog. She loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an excellent cook and baker, especially known for her cinnamon rolls.
Naida is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald Humke of Dubuque; five children, Beth (John) Weber of Cuba City; Steven (Jolene) Humke of Dubuque and their children, Alissa (Brian) Birkhoefer and their children Cruz and Creed, and Meggan (Aaron) Healey and their children, Grayson and Scarlett; Robert (Susan) Humke of LaMotte, and their children, Jamie (Kerry) Humke, Andrew (Stacey) Humke and Holly (Rob) Williams; Michelle (Kevin) Fearon of Lakeland, Fla.; and Carrie Humke of North Port, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents and Jeanne Pfeiffer.
