Obituary for Gerald J Trieweiler
Gerald J. “Jerry” Trieweiler, 87, of Dubuque died Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at home. Visitation will be 3 to 7 pm Monday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Steve Rosonke officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Jerry was born July 31, 1927 in Dubuque, son of Nicholas and Christina (Schueller) Trieweiler. He served in the US Navy during WWII at Banana River Naval Air Station, presently known as Patrick AFB.
He married Virginia “Gini” White September 27, 1948 at Nativity Church. She preceded him in death on October 20, 1998.
He worked at the Dubuque Packing Company from 1957 to 1970, starting in beef cooler and ending as head of beef sales. From 1970 to 1982 he was plant manager of Needham Packing Company in Omaha, Nebraska and owner/operator of Central Plains Beef. He was VP of Beef Operations for FDL Foods in Dubuque from 1982 to 1984.
Jerry was a member of St Anthony’s Parish and served as usher for 49 years.
He was a Packers and Cubs fan who could be found most any day of the week from 1 to 3 pm in a local café or restaurant playing Euchre with some of the best friends a person could have.
Jerry is survived by four sons, Danny Trieweiler of Omaha, Neb., Nick (Wanda) Trieweiler of Thornton, Colo., Gary (June) Trieweiler of Homer, Alaska, Ted Trieweiler of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Christina (Jim) Burks of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren, Tony Trieweiler of Denver, Colorado, Alex Trieweiler of Sun City, Arizona, Adam Trieweiler of Homer, Alaska, Tyler Burks of Omaha, Neb., and Samantha Trieweiler of Waxahachie, Texas; two great grandchildren, Elijah and Alexander Trevino of Waxahachie, Texas; and a sister, Ruth Nauman of Dubuque.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Leo, Irvin “Mollie”, Ralph “Whitey”, George “Jiggs” and Raymond Trieweiler and four sisters, Sybilla Hanson, Ida Hirsch, Jeanette Nauman and Bernice Thill.
Memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Church or Hospice of Dubuque.
