Obituary for John Daykin

John Robert “Bob” Daykin, 91, of Dubuque, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at Ennoble Manor of pneumonia.
A memorial service will be held in spring. Cremation rites were accorded.
He was born on Sept. 21, 1923, in Dubuque, son of
Walter and Henrietta Daykin. He was a University of Dubuque alum, and a Marine
Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He married Jacqueline Ziegler on June 19, 1949, and operated Daykin Insurance Agency, a business started by his father, Walter, and now operated by his son, Steve. He was a long­ time member of Summit Congregational United Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline, of Dubuque; sons Steve (Kim), of Dubuque; Rob (Laurie), of Dundee, Ore.; Jeff (Donna), of Falcon Heights, Minn., and Tom (Karen), of Whitefish Bay, Wis.; nine grandchildren, and two great­ grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Betty Phillips.
