The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Robert Dyer can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Cory Schoening

I was deeply saddened to hear of Bob's passing. Not only did I enjoy reading the stories he would write for the Des Moines Register, but also the conversations I, and others would have with Bob. Many years ago, I, along with co-workers, would travel daily to the Hy-Vee deli on 35th Street in West Des Moines for morning coffee. We would usually see Bob there having breakfast and we'd engage in conversation. I think that he too, enjoyed the conversation as much as we did as he was always willing to visit with and provide some insight for our group. His knowledge and keen intellect were unmatched. I always enjoyed his writings and felt that when he left the Register, their sports section was never the same. My thoughts and prayers are with Bob's family during this most difficult time.
