Joseph A  Koch (Koch)
Joseph A. Koch, 83, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 3825 Sunlight Ridge, died Monday, August 18, 2014 at Stonehill Care Center. Funeral services will be 7 pm Friday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road where visitation will be Friday from 5 pm until time of service. Committal service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Calvary Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League.
Joseph was born March 9, 1931 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Arthur and Helen (Loeffelholz) Koch. He served in the US Marines during the Korean War.
On July 16, 1955 he married Janet Birch at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque.
He worked for Peoples Natural Gas for many years, then worked at Mt. St. Francis before his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Koch of Dubuque; 10 children, Peter (Sonja) Koch of Dubuque, Paul (Sandra) Koch of Dubuque, Anna (Ted) Gulhaugen of Wausau, Wisc., Mary Jaeger of Dubuque, John Koch of Dubuque, James (Sharon) Koch of Dubuque, Julita (John) Kinley of Dubuque, Matthew Koch of New Zealand, Michael (Peggy) Koch of Williams, Iowa, and Rosalie (Curt) Zimmerman of Dubuque; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita (Tom) Hesseling of Georgia and Cecilia (Tony) DuBois of Minnesota and a sister in law, JoAnn Koch of Dubuque.
He was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Koch; his parents; two brothers, Arthur and Ambrose Koch; and four sisters, Mary Rowan, Christine Schiessl, Helen Maker, Lucille Handfelt.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Joseph’s name.
