Obituary for Roger R Anderson

Roger R  Anderson
Roger R. Anderson, 73, of Dubuque died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2025 Jackson Street. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road. Friends may also call from 9 to 9:45 Tuesday at the church prior to services.

Roger was born May 28, 1941 in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, son of Raymond and Shirley (Domske) Anderson. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. He married Sue Faherty on Sept. 26, 1970 in La Crosse, Wisconsin
Roger served in the US Navy during the Vietnam war, then continued serving in the Naval Reserves as a machinist until retiring.He worked as a tool and die maker for John Deere, retiring after 50 years of service. He collected antiques and enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota with his sons. Roger was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

He is survived by three sons, Jason (Wendi) Anderson of Dubuque, Brian (LeAnn) Anderson of Omaha, Neb., and Matt Anderson of Dubuque; five grandchildren, Jessica, Elisha, and Hannah Anderson and Joshua and Evelyn Anderson; brother in law, Kim Sanford and nephew Brad Sanford of Dubuque and his former spouse, Sue Smith of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Judy in infancy, and Barbara Sanford.
