Wayne was born September 8, 1928 in Otter Creek, Iowa, the son of Theodore and Mary Ellen (McCarthy) Hingtgen. He graduated from High School and then served in the US Army during the Korean War. Wayne worked for many years at Dubuque Packing Company as an order filler, and after retiring worked for DuPaco for 9 years as a courier. He was a volunteer driver for DuRide. Wayne loved to travel, making it to all 50 States and also took trips to Europe, Ireland and Asia. An avid Cubs and Bears fan, he often treated friends and family with trips to Chicago to watch the games. Another form of entertainment for him was playing euchre. Wayne was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus and took part in the Honor Flight in 2012. Wayne was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. He was a man who could always be counted on, and was constantly lending a helping hand to community and family, alike.
Survivors include a sister in-law, Vivian Hingtgen of Keiler, WI. He was a loving caring uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bernadine (Ament) Geisler; and a brother, John Hingtgen.
