Obituary for Eileen D Zehentner (Foster)

Eileen D. Zehentner, 87, of Key West, Iowa, was called to her heavenly home, surrounded by family, April 18, 2011 in Foley, Alabama where she spent winters with her son, Dan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Key West with Rev. Don Bakewell officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Key West. Friends may call from 9 to 10:45 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Church in Key West. The Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 390 N. Grandview Ave is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on December 30, 1923 in St. Cloud, MN, daughter of William and Mildred Foster. She was a 1941 graduate of St. Cloud Senior High School. She married Joseph Zehentner on December 11, 1942 in Las Cruces, New Mexico; he preceded her in death on November 15, 1997.
Eileen was a stay at home wife and mother while her children were young. She was a 4-H Leader and a volunteer at St. Joseph’s School and Church in Key West. She worked for the Dubuque Dept. of Social Services for 18 years. In her later years she enjoyed meeting with the Dubuque County Farm Bureau Women and the friendship of the ladies in that organization.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor and friend. Her family meant everything to her and she was extremely proud of each member. Mom was a very independent lady who loved her home in the country with the peace and quiet, surrounded by the wildlife she loved to watch. After Dad’s passing and despite continuing health problems, she was determined to remain independent and live in her own home. Mom is going to be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are children; Kenneth (Linda L.) Zehentner of Bisbee, AZ, Peggy (Michael) Neyens of Winona, MN, Daniel Zehentner of Foley, AL; grandchildren, Ken Lowe, Jodi Neyens, Eric (Jessica) Neyens, and Joseph Zehentner; great-grandchildren, Mikayla Lanier, Emily Neyens; her brother, Kenneth Foster of Annandale, MN; and her sister-in-law, Mary Rita Zehentner of Dubuque, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
An Eileen Zehentner Memorial Fund has been established.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Community Hospice of Baldwin County, Alabama.
