Obituary for Betty H Duehr (Schaumburg)

Betty H. Duehr, 87, of Dubuque, died Thursday, February 28, 2019 surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be 10 am, Tuesday, March 5 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road, with Rev. Dianne Grace officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3-8 pm Monday and from 9-10 am Tuesday at the funeral home.
Betty was born on May 14, 1931 in Rickardsville, Iowa the daughter of Fred J. and Alvina (Tinkham) Schaumburg.
She married Benjamin G. Duehr on April 24, 1951. He preceded her in death on November 1, 1966, leaving her to raise their nine children.
Betty was employed at Caradco, John Deere and retired from food service at the Dubuque Community Schools after 19 years of service.
She was a strong and independent individual who loved shopping, baking bread and cookies, gambling, playing cards, crocheting, puzzles, listening to country music and spending long afternoons outside on her deck.
Betty was a loving and wonderful mother and grandmother who liked to travel and was always ready to go on her next trip. She enjoyed the annual family fisheree, holidays and family gatherings.
She is survived by her children, Barb (Dale) Meier, Bev (Al) Hinderman, Bonnie (Wayne) Cook, Barney (Donna) Duehr, Bertha (Carl) Sarazin, Becky (Joe) Hohmann, Brenda (Duane) Kennicker, and Bruce (Debra) Duehr; daughter-in-law, Ann Duehr; grandchildren, Sally Duehr, Crissy Ritt, and Benjamin J. Duehr, Kevin Ament, Rick Mesch, Chad Mesch and Angie McDonnell, Jeremy Cook, Jenny Cook, Jarett Cook, Jeff Cook, and Jicole Cook, Kelli Splinter and Ashley Schmitt, Joe Sarazin, Christopher Sarazin and Danielle Post, Becky Jaeger, Abbey Richman and Amanda Hohmann, Tiffany Schmitt and Trista Kennicker, and Stephanie Duehr and Lucas Duehr; 49 great- grandchildren and three on the way; and 2 great- great- grandchildren and one on the way; brother, Fred (Cora) Schaumburg; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Schaumburg; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Benjamin C. Duehr; granddaughter, Stacey Ament; siblings, Pearl Dubler, Irene Sabers, and Donald Schaumburg; and several in-laws.
A Betty Duehr Memorial Fund has been established.
