Louise was born January 18, 1923 to Ed and Nell Vesperman on the family farm located outside of Ellenboro, WI. Shortly after WWII, she married Elvin (Gus) Turner on March 9, 1946 in Lancaster, WI, moved to Dubuque, IA in 1948 and began raising their family. She graduated from Lancaster High School in 1940, earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville in 1962. Louise became a dedicated kindergarten teacher in the Dubuque Community School District, which was the joy of her life. Many of her former students would often say how they remembered their time in kindergarten and especially the fond memories of their teacher, Mrs. Turner.

Louise spent her summer weekends in Bagley, Wi at the family cottage. She loved fishing for bluegills, playing euchre, bridge and socializing with family and friends. She also loved camping, canoeing, road trips with her family, the Green Bay Packers, and being a loyal friend.

She was a loving and devoted mother of son Judd (Shawn) Turner, daughter, Jan (Turner) Atkinson, Grandmother to Katie (Brent) Widman, Dawn (Tom) Ramerth, Nelli (Austin) Williams and Ashley (Tyler) Hegawald and seven great grandchildren.

Louise is survived by her eldest sister, Bernice Judd. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin (Gus) Turner, her grandson, Luke Turner (infant son of Shawn and Judd), and her brothers and sisters, Vera (Leo) Muldoon, Corinne (Elmer) Wilkins, Carson (Viola) Vesperman, and Louis (Dorothy) Vesperman.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Bethany Home and Dubuque Hospice for their excellent care and support of our mother.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Louise can be made to the family.
