Obituary for Veronica M Hanson (Haxmeier)

Vi M. Hanson, 98, of Dubuque passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Luther Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 31, at the Church of the Resurrection. Entombment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 10:15 a.m., Wednesday at the Church. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road is in charge of the arrangements.
Vi was born on November 15, 1919 in Dubuque, the daughter of John C. and Susan M. (Welsch) Haxmeier. She married Harvey J. Hanson on February 26, 1946 at the Church of the Nativity. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1984.
Vi was an avid Cubs fan. She loved to travel, play euchre and play the piano.
Vi volunteered for many years at Mercy Hospital. During her time there she happily crocheted hundreds of baby caps for newborns, along with other duties.
She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, where she also volunteered for many years.
Surviving are her children, Richard (Kathy) Hanson, of Dubuque, Patricia Eisbach, of Hillsborough, North Carolina, Mary (Ernest) Radies, of Marion, Iowa, Sandy (Rick) Grothe, of Peosta, Dave (Nancy) Hanson, of Dubuque and Dee (Brian) Collins, of Dubuque; 11 grandchildren, Jodi (Mark) Beringer, Jeff (fiance, Jackie) Hanson, Shelly Eisbach, Tracy (John) Erdelyi, Paula (Eric) Bahl, Sarah (Matt) Bell, Mark (Abby) Grothe, Michelle Hanson, Elizabeth "Liz" Hanson, Carrie Collins and Theresa Collins; 10 great- grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Virginia (Bob) Budde; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Dawn Eisbach; 2 brothers, Arnold and Julian Haxmeier; 4 sisters, Martha Zieser, Mary Knockel, Sedalia Callahan and Armella Bailey; a son-in-law, Edmund Eisbach; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Hilda Haxmeier, Jeanette Haxmeier, Joseph Knockel, Vincent, Robert, Francis, Louis and James Hanson.
Memorials may be given to Luther Manor, Mt. Pleasant Home or Hospice of Dubuque.
