Douglas Louis  Staggs
Douglas L. Staggs, 22, of Dubuque died Wednesday, July 11, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Rd. with Deacon Bill Biver officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Doug was born November 20, 1995 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of James D. and Susan (Hagerty) Staggs.
Doug graduated from Hempstead High School in 2014. He worked at Arby’s for six years, serving the last three years as shift manager. He was excited about having just started a new job at Georgia Pacific.
Beloved by anyone who knew him, Doug was funny, smart, easy going, kind hearted, warm and genuine. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, was always respectful and caring of others, and was very conscientious and loving toward his parents. In his younger years, he was a talented artist and enjoyed drawing and drafting, as well as playing basketball and just shooting hoops with friends and family. Doug was a big St. Louis Cardinals fan he enjoyed attending games with his family.
He is survived by his parents, James D. and Susan Staggs of Dubuque, and a brother, Dalton J. Staggs of Dubuque.
Other survivors include his paternal grandmother, Juanita (Sagers) Staggs of Dubuque, numerous aunts and uncles and many cousins.
Preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Douglas King Staggs, maternal grandfather Louis Hagerty Jr., maternal grandmother, Colette (Donahue) Hagerty, and paternal uncle, John Staggs.
A Douglas Staggs memorial fund has been established.
The Staggs family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Dubuque Police Dept., Dubuque Fire Dept. and the paramedics.
