Mary Anne Kean, 96, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of St. John Drive died Saturday, July 14, 2018.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at Resurrection Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Friday, July 20 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Road.
Mary Anne was born on April 18, 1922 in Gregory, South Dakota, the daughter of Mathais A. and Anna L. (Matthews) Crilly. She attended high school in South Dakota and was a Clarke College graduate.
In 1946 she married James J. Kean at Immaculate Conception Cathedral Parish in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Mary Anne was a secretary for the Rapid City US Airforce Training School during WWII. She later worked alongside her husband at their family photography business, Mould Studio until her husband’s death on July 20, 1979.
For 10 years she worked as costume director and cook with Sr. Mary Xavier at Clarke College. She was also employed as low vision coordinator at the Tri- State Blind Society.
Mary Anne was a longtime member of Resurrection Church and was involved in many church activities. She was a proud member of the Democrat Party. During the elections she worked tirelessly organizing election campaigns and volunteering at the polls.
She is survived by her sons, Jim (Joanne) Kean, of Dubuque, Pat (Josh Waller) Kean of New York, NY., and Tom (Therese Ragatz) Kean of Dubuque; grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her children, Joan Litzinger and John Kean; and her sister, Ellen McDonald.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Stonehill Care Center.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Stonehill Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque for their compassionate care.
