Obituary for Janaan M Wolf (Christ)

Janaan M. Wolf, 83, of Dubuque died Tuesday, June 26, 2018. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church where visitation will be held Friday from 9 to 11:15. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
Janaan was born October 7, 1934 in Savannah, Ill, daughter of Howard and Elizabeth (Sloan) Christ. Howard passed away shortly after Janaan’s birth, so she was raised by her mother and her second father, Joseph Hirsch. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1952.
On June 30, 1956 she married Robert Wolf. She was so looking forward to celebrating her 62nd wedding anniversary and her grandsons wedding on June 30, 2018. As it turned out, she had the best seat in the house. Bob was by her side day and night while she fought a courageous battle with this terrible disease.
Janaan worked at Interstate Finance Company until leaving to raise her children. She was a faithful member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and served on many boards.
Janaan was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved and supported her family deeply. Spending time with her family brought her great joy. Her wisdom and wit will be greatly missed. She looked forward to the Sunday night visits from Jim and Donna and the daily phone calls from Joanne. Although our hearts are broken, we can find comfort in knowing Janaan is in heaven and will be watching over us always.

She is survived by her husband, Robert R. Wolf; a daughter, Sheila (Jeff) Pillard and a son Tim (Bobbi) Wolf; her grandchildren Rachel (Reid) Oberle, Matthew (Lindsey) Pillard , Ashley (Ricky) Seely and Robert Wolf and her great-grandchildren, Avyanah Seely and Brock and Bo Oberle
She is also survived by two siblings, Jim (Donna) Hirsch and Joanne Loysen ; and brothers in law, Joe Lent and Dennis (Gen) Wolf.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Christ and Joseph and Elizabeth Hirsch; sister, Janet Lent; and granddaughters, Erin and Amy Wolf.
Memorial may be made to Camp Courageous, Hospice of Dubuque or St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
The Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Hospice of Dubuque, especially Jen and Amy, and Drs. Hermann and Nelson for their wonderful care.
