Obituary for William D. Bailey

William D. “Bill” Bailey, 86, of Dubuque died Thursday, May 31,2018 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church where visitation will be held Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery where Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Dubuque Post #6.
Bill was born May 28, 1932 in Chicago, Ill, son of Harold and Emma (Woodyard) Bailey. After serving in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, he went to work for Georgia Pacific, where he worked as a printing pressman for over 40 years.
On September 19, 1953, he married Mildred Dorschner at St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and the American Legion Dubuque Post #6. He enjoyed fishing, watching old movies on TV and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Bailey of Dubuque; sisters in law, Debbie (John) Ruh of Dubuque, Marie Strohmeyer of Ft. Meyers, Fla., Marjorie Bailey of Encinitas, California. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold James and Calvin Lee.
The Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church or a veterans organization of your choice.
