Jeffrey C. McDermott, 55, of Dubuque passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at home, surrounded by family, after battling Squamous Cell Carcinoma since November of 2016. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Thursday at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Lutheran Church where visitation will also be held Friday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
Jeff was born November 13, 1962 in Dubuque, son of Clement and Imelda (Decker) McDermott. He was a graduate of Dubuque Hempstead High School and the University of Dubuque.
On October 11, 1992 he married Pam Hubert at St. Peter Lutheran Church. He was a loving husband and father, and doting grandfather endlessly devoted to his family.
He was a chef at Timmerman’s Supper Club for over 30 years and was a product support analyst at Change Healthcare (McKesson Relay Health). He enjoyed skiing and golfing.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Pam McDermott of Dubuque; two daughters, Emily (Nathan) Roberts of Iowa City and Megan (Brandon) Valentine of Dubuque; granddaughter, Temperance Valentine; three siblings, Nancy (Chuck) Ashelin of Dubuque, David (Marilyn) McDermott of Dubuque and Wayne (Nancy) McDermott of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Dubuque. Special thanks are extended to the family’s caring neighbor, John Kirk.
