Obituary for Doris M Nachtman (Flesch)

Doris M Nachtman (Flesch)
Doris M. Nachtman, 93, of Dubuque died Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Luther Manor. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church where visitation will be held Saturday from 9 to 10:45 a.m.
Doris was born June 14, 1923 in Lancaster, Wisc., daughter of John and Mabel (Sedbrook) Flesch. She graduated from Cassville HS. She married Harold A. Nachtman September 2, 1947 at Saint Thomas Catholic Church Potosi WI. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1980.
Doris worked for a few years at the Roshek Department Store and then at Armstrongs in the gift department as a wedding consultant. She served on the Board of Directors of the Girls Club of Dubuque.
Doris was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. This was evident in many ways especially through the heroic care she provided her daughter for many years. She imprinted her love on all the grandchildren and great grandchildren early in their lives and remained close to them as they grew older. Each new addition to the family gave her joy. She was very proud of her family.
Doris enjoyed many great friendships over the years. She and Harold were members of a “potluck” dinner group that we envy yet today for the fun they had together. She enjoyed a wonderful group of ladies that gathered for cards and lunches.
In the words of her Granddaughter, Sara “Well into her nineties she was still easily the best dressed woman in any room. She liked good scotch. She talked to her flowers. She read cookbooks for sport. She had an eye for beautiful things. She was generous with her time for me. She was elegant and lovely until the end.”
Doris is survived by her children, DiAnne of Dubuque, Deb (Tom) Brehmer and children, H. Jacqueline, Shelby and David of San Francisco CA, Jack (Linda) Nachtman of Dubuque and children, Jack Jr. (Erica) and children, Evan and Harold of La Crosse WI, Dr. Chad (Cyndy) Nachtman and children Nicholas and Matthew of Dubuque, Charlie ( Jean) Nachtman of Dubuque and Children Sara (Brian) Gay and children, Greta, Signe, and Aksel of Duluth MN. and Lisa Nachtman of Dubuque. She is also survived by her two sisters, Joann (Bernard) Kirschbaum, and Connie Fritz, both of Lancaster WI and her sister-in-law Lenice Flesch of Dubuque and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, her brothers John Flesch and Donald Flesch, sister-in-law Florence Flesch, brother-in-law Eldon Fritz, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Harold J Nachtman and Emma, brother-in-law William Nachtman and sister-in-law Donna Nachtman.
