Obituary for Kristen E Vogt (Laughlin)

Kristen E. Vogt, 26, of Dubuque died Saturday, September 10, 2016 due to injuries sustained in a car accident. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 pm Wednesday at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a parish wake service at 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Thursday at the Church of the Nativity. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Kristen was born February 27, 1990 in Temple, Texas, daughter of Daniel and Tracy (Potter) Laughlin. She graduated from Andrew High School in 2008, La’ James in Mason City with a diploma in message therapy, and Ashford University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She was currently working at Cottingham and Butler.

On September 19, 2015, she married the love of her life, Matthew Vogt at the Church of the Nativity.
Kristen was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister. She enjoyed camping, spending time with family and playing UNO with her grandma at Christmas. She was also an excellent cook who loved cooking for her perfect little family.

Kristen is survived by her husband, Matthew Vogt of Dubuque; their son, William Vogt of Dubuque; her parents, Dan and Tracy Laughlin of Andrew; siblings, Sean, Cohl and Brianna Laughlin; Godson, Brayden Dononvan; maternal grandparents, Frank and Darlene Potter of Dubuque; paternal grandparents, Ken and Joyce Laughlin of LaMotte; mother in law, Dolores Vogt of Dubuque; father in law, John (Robin) Vogt of Portsmouth, VA; and a brother in law, Mike Vogt of Chicago; grandmothers in law, Judy Schiessl and Naomi Vogt; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers in law, Fred Schiessl and John Vogt; uncle, Jim Potter and cousins, Scott Arensdorf and Jared Potter.

In lieu of flowers, a Kristen Vogt Memorial Fund has been established.
