Condolence: JOY TO THE WORLD
Sister Ruth Jackson, S.V.M., of the Visitation Convent in Dubuque ministered in many effective ways as a member of the Order of the Visitation of Mary. Outstanding on the list of such service is the fact that she was particularly responsible for the fact that the Cathedral of St. Raphael in Dubuque had and has religious music of the highest Catholic and human quality, just as another Sister of the Visitation, Sister Patricia Clark, S.V.M., is particularly responsible for the fact that the Church of the Nativity in Dubuque had and has religious music of the highest Catholic and human quality. They are indeed icons or sacraments of beauty, of unconditional love, and of Christ: Joy to the World. The Archdiocese and city and parishes of Dubuque are so grateful for the gifts given to them by the Sisters of the Visitation of the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Included in those gifts of Christian beauty was the service by Sister Ruth for a number of decades on the Dubuque Archdiocesan liturgical architecture committee. The Visitation Order has been and is a grace to us, for which we continue to thank the Visitation Sisters.

Condolence: My brothers and I were so sorry to hear about Sr. Ruth's passing. She was a beloved teacher to all of us at Nativity grade school and, for me, at Visitation Academy. Such a smart and deeply thoughtful teacher, with a compassionate and generous heart. People like Sr. Ruth do not come along often, and we feel lucky to have been taught by her.
