Obituary for George J Andresen

George J. Andresen, 68, of Dubuque died Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 7 pm at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a parish wake service at 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Resurrection where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League.
George was born July 25, 1947 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Charles and LaVonne (Pape) Andresen. He graduated from Wahlert Catholic High School in 1965. On October 11, 1969, George married Judy Haberkorn.
He served in the US Air Force for 24 years, retiring in 1993. After retiring from the Air Force, George worked at Theisens warehouse until 2003. He then worked in purchasing at Medical Associates until his retirement in 2012.
He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection where he was a Eucharistic Minister, as well being a member of several men’s groups.
George enjoyed spending time by the river, biking, reading, exercising and traveling. He was an avid Cubs and Hawkeyes fan. Most of all, he loved being a grandpa and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Andresen of Dubuque; three daughters, Cathy (Eric) Schmuck of San Clemente, Calif., and their children Madeline and Abigail; Kara (Andrew) Scott of Tucson, Ariz., and their children, Justin and Katie; and Meg (Phil) Arensdorf of Dubuque, and their children, Casey and Noah.
He is also survived by a sister, Susan Hinderman of Cuba City, a brother, Charles (Lani) Andresen of Indonesia, a step sister, Lynn (Ken) Kupferschmidt of Dubuque and Judy’s siblings and their spouses.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother in law, John Liebfreid, and a sister in law, Mary Alice Haberkorn.
Memorials may be given to the George Andresen Memorial Fund.
