Obituary for Dorothy I Udelhofen (Schuster)
Dorothy I. Udelholfen, 85, of Dubuque, died Monday, July 6, 2015 at home. Private family services will be held. A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at Massey Station on August 15th. Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Rd, is assisting the family.
Dorothy was born on June 16, 1930 in Dubuque, IA, daughter of Clifford and Leona (Story) Schuster. She attended Senior High School.
On Feburary 10, 1947, Dorothy married Claire Udelhofen at Center Grove United Methodist Church in Dubuque. Together they celebrated 54 years of marriage. He preceded her in death in 2001.
Dorothy worked as a sales clerk for 30-plus years at Eagle Supermarket until her retirement.
Her greatest loves were her family and her dog Sassy. She also enjoyed camping at Massey Station, taking the houseboat out on the Mississippi, bowling, and dancing.
Those left to cherish Dorothy’s memory include her children, Lana (Gary) Thies of Lake Delhi, IA, Debbie (Larry) Parker of Dubuque, Ron (Dawn) Udelhofen of Dubuque, Tami (Robert) Dougherty of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Lisa (Mike) Hinz of Dubuque; 18 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Jaeger of Paulina, LA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter Sheryl Clayton; and a sister Grace (Jay) Reidi.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Dubuque for their lovely care of Dorothy.
