Irene M Sabers

Irene Mae Sabers, 75, formerly of 3460 Starlite Drive and Mud Lake Road, Wednesday, March 3, 2010.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 6, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 2659 Kennedy Road, where friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery

She was born on Dec. 19, 1934, in Dubuque, daughter of Fred W. and Alvina (Tinkham) Schaumburg. She lived on the family farm and attended school in Rickardsville.

She married Marvin H. Sabers on Aug. 28, 1956; he preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 1993. Irene and Marvin lived in Dubuque and later moved to Sageville.

Irene enjoyed working with her flowers and plants, feeding the birds and watching wildlife. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, playing cards and going to "the boat." Most of all, Irene enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are her children, Duane (Sheila) Sabers, of Epworth, Iowa, Diane (David) Fraehlich, of Dubuque, Randy Sabers, of Moab, Utah, and Larry (Joyce) Sabers, of Sherrill, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, Amy (Scott) Pitz, Jody (Russ) Steger, Jason (Lisa) Sabers, Dustin Sabers, Dana (Kyle) Gansen, Jessica (Dennis) Kauffmann, Roseann Sabers, Jacob Sabers, Alison Fraehlich and Natalie Fraehlich; seven great-grandchildren, Grace, Garrett, Allie, Abbey, Cambrie, Leah, Andrew and a new little one due in July; two brothers, Fred (Cora) Schaumburg, of Durango, and Don (Ruth Ann) Schaumburg, of Pomona, Mo.; two sisters, Pearl Dubler and Betty Duehr, both of Dubuque; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Floyd Sabers, Sylveria Ruden, Gene (Darlean) Sabers and Jack (MaryAnn) Sabers, all of Dubuque, and Pat (Jerry) Klostermann, of New Vienna, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary Sabers; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Clarence Ruden, Ruth and Ed Holl, Edith Sabers, Roger Sabers, Lewis Dubler and Ben Duehr.

An Irene Sabers Memorial Fund has been established.
