LaVerne M Fesler

LaVerne M. Fesler 85, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 1001 Assisi Drive, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at Stonehill.
Services will be at noon Saturday, March 6, at Nativity Catholic Church, where friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque American Legion Post 6. The Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 390 N. Grandview Ave., is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on July 24, 1924, in Dubuque, son of Audrey and Edna (Baumgartner) Fesler.
LaVerne was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a steam fitter and worked for Berwanger Heating and Cooling. He also worked for the steam fitters union and was an inspector for the city of Dubuque.
He married Anna Mae Fairfield at St. Mary's Catholic Church in 1947; she preceded him in death on July 4, 1998.
LaVerne was a member of Nativity Parish and enjoyed spending time with his family at his cabin and fishing.
Surviving are his daughter, Sandy (Cliff) Stock, of Dubuque; his grandchildren, James (Peri) Knabel, of Lead, S.D., Dr. Julie (Dr. John) Lee, of Prescott, Wis., and Dr. Jessica (Dr. Jason) Black, of Portland, Ore.; and six great-grandchildren, Reece, Paige and Hudson Knabel, Sadie Rae and Zeanna Black and Charlie Dean Lee.
He also was preceded in death by his son, Michael Fesler; his parents; and his sister, Wanda Connolly.
A LaVerne M. Fesler Memorial Fund has been established.
