John J Haas

John J. Haas, 57, of 2206 Woodlawn St., died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Nativity Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 19, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2659 Kennedy Road, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
He was born on Nov. 27, 1952, in Dubuque, son of Clarence and Blanche (Brandel) Haas. He graduated from Dubuque Hempstead High School and the Ohio Tech School.
John was employed with People's Natural Gas Co. and currently with John Deere Dubuque Works.
He was a member of Nativity Parish and president of the Nativity Rosary Society. John also was a member of the Power of Prayer.
He was a loving and caring family man who would always lend a helping hand. John enjoyed biking and fishing.
Surviving are his two daughters, Jill and April Haas, of Milton, Fla.; his brother, Gary (Carol) Haas, of Hazel Green, Wis.; three sisters, Linda (Martin) Maas, of Dubuque, Diane (Karl) Blaser, of Monticello, Ill., and Mary (Dan) Breiner, of Dubuque; his lifetime friend, Geri Launspach, of Dubuque; and 15 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Randy Maas.
A John J. Haas Memorial Fund has been established.

We extend our deepest sympathy to everyone. John was an inspiration to all. His kindness and his witness to holiness was so appreciated. We were not able to be at his funeral mass today. However, we continue to keep John in our prayers. May you rest in peace in knowing that he was one of God's favorite sons! We were blessed to know John.
