Ruth A Strub

Ruth A. Strub, 96, of Luther Manor, formerly of 408 Hill St., died Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at Luther Manor.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17, at Nativity Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 16, at Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a parish scripture wake service at 7:30 p.m. Friends also may call from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
She was born on April 13, 1914, in Decorah, Iowa, daughter of Hans and Mabel (Rustad) Halvorson. She married Raphael Strub on May 12, 1939, at Nativity in Dubuque; he preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1997.
Ruth worked prior to her marriage as a personal helper in the home of a disabled woman in Waukon, Iowa. After her marriage, she was a homemaker and also did the book work for Raphael Strub Construction.
She was an avid gardener and an accomplished seamstress and quilt maker.
Surviving are her three daughters, Mrs. Jean (Thomas) Healy, of Vancouver, Wash., Mrs. Madonna "Bunny" (Kenneth) Massey, of Wood Dale, Ill., and Lorraine "Lonnie" Herman, of Maquoketa, Iowa; a son, Dennis (Kristine) Strub, of Dubuque; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Stortz, and two brothers, Orlando Halvorson and Donald (June) Halvorson, all of Decorah, Iowa.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; and a sister, Edna Strub.
