Lela M Bisanz

Lela M. "Lee" Bisanz, 83, of 3164 Pasadena Court, died Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, surrounded by her family.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 8, at Resurrection Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a parish wake service at 4 p.m.

She was born on July 1, 1927, in Dubuque, daughter of Thomas and Wanilla (Roth) Graham. She graduated from Nativity Grade School, Academy of the Visitation and Mercy Nursing Class of 1948.

She married Carl J. Bisanz on Oct. 22, 1949, at Nativity Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 2003.

She formerly worked at Mercy Hospital.

She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection.

Lee enjoyed gardening, reading, playing bridge, traveling and spending time with her family.

Surviving are six children, Deborah (David) Tschiggfrie, of Dubuque, Diane (William) Backes, of Madison, Wis., Donna Bisanz, of Dubuque, Gary Bisanz, of Vernon Hills, Ill., Amy (Jon) Brachman, of Dubuque, and Ellen (Don) Kraus, of Paonia, Colo.; 13 grandchildren, Sarah and Jonathan Tschiggfrie, Chris, Eric and Brittany Backes, Keith Bisanz, Scott (Vanessa), Regina, Andrew, Ruth, Emily and Danny Brachman, and Kailey Kraus; two great-grandchildren, Kyler and Sidney; and a sister-in-law, Jean (Charlie) Miller.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Joe Bisanz; and a brother, Ralph Graham.

A Lela M. Bisanz Memorial Fund has been established.
