Justin H. Droessler, 87, of Dubuque died Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Stonehill Care Center. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 pm Friday at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a parish wake service at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Saturday at the Church of the Nativity. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Dubuque Post #6.
Justin was born October 16, 1931 in Kieler, Wisc., son of John and Josepha (Schaefer) Droessler.
He served in the US Army from 1949 to 1952.
On January 28, 1956 he married Agnes Hansel at St. Joseph Church, Earlville.
He worked at the Dubuque Packing Company for 44 years, retiring in 1995.
Justin was a longtime member of Nativity Church where he volunteered as an usher and Boy Scout leader. He loved fishing, hunting and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Droessler of Dubuque; three children, Bob (Deb) Droessler of Davenport, IA, Dick (Patti) Droessler of Iowa City, IA, and Kathy (Steve) Payne of Peosta, IA; four grandchildren, Sarah (Josh) Lovik of Iowa City, IA, Karyn (Mark) Degenhardt of San Antonio, TX, Julie Droessler of Chicago, IL and Kristin (David) Goedken of Iowa City, IA and four great grandchildren, Mady and Jack Lovik and Mila and Ellie Goedken.
He is also survived by a brother, Jack (Pauline) Droessler of Dubuque, IA.
He is preceded by his parents; three brothers, Lavern “Bud”, Roman and Ardwin “Art” Droessler; three sisters, Eileen Roddick, Adelle Mohr and Doris Naber and several nieces and nephews.
A Justin H. Droessler Memorial Fund has been established.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Stonehill Care Center and Finley Hospital for all of their wonderful care.
