Richard “Rich” L. Mesch, 73, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018.

A visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m., Wednesday, October 24 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory and from 9-10 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 6 at the The Regina Caeli Chapel in Mount Calvary Cemetery immediately following the visitation on Thursday.

Rich was born on October 17, 1945 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Raymond and Florence (Hoerner) Mesch.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on October 9, 1976.

He worked at Dubuque Stamp for 41 years.

Rich was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed golfing, drawing, Ford Cars and being with his friends at the Walnut Tap.

He cherished time spent with his kids and grandkids.

Rich was a proud Veteran. He enjoyed daily walks, especially by the Veteran’s Memorial Plaza in Dubuque. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 6.

He is survived by his children, Richard (Lisa) Mesch, Chad Mesch (girlfriend, Amanda Diers), and Angella (Brad) McDonnell; grandchildren, Austin and Allie Unsen, Tyler and Melia McDonnell, Anthony, Paige, Hannah and Madison Hutchinson, and Brandon Keen; two great- grandchildren, Caden Cook and Lila Hamilton; brother, Marvin (Patricia) Mesch; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Darla (Al) Frentress.

A Richard Mesch Memorial Fund has been established.
