Lois A. Gross, 90, of Applewood 1, Dubuque, was called home peacefully on Friday, September 28, 2018.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 1 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. To celebrate Lois’ life, family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Sunday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Road, where a wake service will be held at 7 p.m.
Lois was born on September 12, 1928 in Dubuque County, Iowa the daughter of William and Viola (Thielen) Kingsley.
On October 20, 1951 she married Paul Gross at St. Clement Church, Bankston, Iowa. They were blessed with three children before Paul was called home on March 25, 1986.
Paul and Lois were administrators of the Dubuque County Care Facility for 33 years, retiring in 1985.
She took great joy in spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre and poker, family fishing trips, golfing, and bowling. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fans.
Lois was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, ACCW at St. Joseph the Worker and Power of Prayer.
Those left to cherish Lois’ memory are her daughters, Cathy Flannery Nodorft of Potosi, Wisconsin, and Diane (Bernie) Nie of Maquoketa, Iowa; grandchildren, Phil (Andrea) Flannery, Tara Odefey, Melissa (Bill) Wohlers, Theresa (Pete) Roth, Christina (Rob) Hayes, Shannon (JD) Morscheck, Katie (fiancé Alex Fleiner) Devereaux; great- grandchildren, Drake Nie, Caiden and Brennen Wohlers, Luke and Claire Odefey, Noah and Brody Flannery, Olivia and Ashton Roth, Logan and Dylan Hayes, Gwyneth, Calvin and Franklin Morscheck; 3 step-great granddaughters; 7 step-great, great grandchildren; brother-in-law Joe Gross; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul; a son, Daniel; infant grandson, Bryant; son-in-law, Duane Nodorft; and brothers, Dale, Charles, and Jack Kingsley.
A Lois Gross Memorial Fund has been established.
