Obituary for Kenneth O Bauer Sr.

Kenneth O. Bauer Sr., 71, of Sherrill died Tuesday, September 25, 2018 peacefully at his home. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 pm Friday at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Sherrill. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cemetery where military rites will be accorded.
Ken was born June 18, 1947 in North Buena Vista, Iowa, son of Joseph and Althea (Petsche) Bauer.
He graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1965. After graduation, he served in the US Army where he was stationed in Germany.
He married Linda Brimeyer on June 2, 1973 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, North Buena Vista. She preceded him in death on February 28, 2008.
Ken worked as a heavy equipment operator for his 50 year career, most recently at Portzen Construction before his retirement. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 234.
He loved the outdoors and while outdoors enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and gardening. He also enjoyed woodworking and building things. He was especially proud of his Treehouse, he built for his Grandkids. Ken was always there at any time to help anyone who needed it and never said no.
Ken loved spending time with his significant other, Karen Maury.
He is survived by five children, Kenneth O. (Tara) Bauer Jr. of Potosi, Wisc., Heidi L. (Tim) Brown of Ames, Iowa, Christopher J. (Michelle) Bauer of Waterloo, Iowa, Patrick J. (Shelly Woller) Bauer of Dubuque and Jessica L. (Travis Olson) Bauer of Guttenberg; 10 grandchildren, Trenton, Christian, Nelson, Mykaylia, Damian, Braxtyn, Braetyn, Brody, Layla, and Cub. His significant other Karen Maury and her children, Vanessa and Scott and her grandson Austin.
He is also survived by his siblings, Leon (Donna) Bauer, Francis (Brenda) Bauer, Linda Hogan, Julie Johnson, John (Pat) Bauer, Ed Bauer, Mary Jane (Dan) Jacobsen, Laura (Tony) King, Andy (Pam) Bauer and Tim (Dawn) Bauer; his mother in law, Norma Brimeyer; and in laws, Reynold Brimeyer, Karen (Russ) Duve, Elaine Fortman, John Brimeyer and Allan Brimeyer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father in law, Gilbert Brimeyer and a son, Wayne Patrick Bauer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kenneth Bauer Memorial Fund.
