Obituary for Robert Kaiser

Robert  Kaiser
Robert J. “Bob” Kaiser 82, of Dubuque, died Friday, August 17, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the Church of The Nativity with Rev. James Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the American Legion, Post 6. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Rd. where a parish scripture wake service will be recited at 7:30.

Bob was born on August 9, 1936 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Loretta (Splinter) Kaiser. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and enlisted into the U.S. Marines Corps. He was honorably discharged. On February 11, 1961 he married Sandra Paar. She preceded him in death on December 6, 1994. Bob was employed at John Deere Dubuque Works for over 30 years, retiring as a supervisor. On October 24, 1997, he married JoAnn Duffy Pettera at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville, WI. Bob enjoyed gardening, candle making, traveling, woodworking, playing euchre and his “outlaw” music – especially Johnny Cash. He was very involved in the building of the Girl Scout camp and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.

Surviving are his wife, JoAnn of Dubuque; his children Michael (Carol) Kaiser of Cedar Rapids, IA, Steven Kaiser, Tom (Lisa) Kaiser, David Kaiser and Christine (Shawn) Wagner all of Dubuque; his step children Mark (Lisa) Pettera of Prairie Du Chien, WI, Jacqueline (Gary) Gantenbein of Dickeyville, WI, Renee’ Duncan of Dubuque, IA, Angela (Brent) Hutchins of Stewartville, MN, Christopher Pettera of Lansing, IA, Michelle (Mike) Brandel of Dubuque, IA and David (Tracie) Pettera of Cascade, IA; his grandchildren are Kevin (Megan), Robert, Ben, Anna, Nolan, Jenna, Matt, Mike, Nick, Chase, Reese, Tori, Will, Wade, Taylor, Jordan, Zach,Hayley,Taylor,Isaac, Alyssa,David, Cora and Mitch; and great grandchildren are Carter, Koy, Krue, Bria, Tanner, Carson, Reed, AJ, Carlos, Cecilia and Lucille; his sister-in-law Gayle Paar Wesson of Missouri Valley, IA.

Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandy; 3 brothers Austin (Mary) Kaiser, Don (“Bert”) Kaiser and Harold Kaiser; his sister Lorraine (Ralph) Quade.

A Robert J. Kaiser memorial fund has been established.
