Condolence: I would just like to say that I am very sorry for your loss. Dickey was truly one of the good guys in our 26th and Jackson neighborhood. He never looked down on anyone and always gave you the benefit of the doubt. I distinctly remember when I was a sophomore at Hempstead High School Dickey drove around the neighborhood one early Friday evening in his red Buick Skylark with white top. He picked up my friends and I and took us to a Mustang football game and paid our way in. Something we probably wouldn't have experienced had it not been for him and we all had a great time. He also organized softball games that we played at Klauer Manufacturing's abandoned lot. Never realized it at the time, but, he did it to keep us out of trouble and to try and steer us down the straight and narrow path. He did a lot to keep us rogues out of trouble. He was truly a good guy and had a good heart. I'm sure that he will be greatly missed.

I cannot imagine how many lives he touched by his selflessness, thoughtfulness, faith and the gift he had to give, give, give! He always had a smile on his face and that will stay with me forever! I give him credit for making me a more patient person and showing me the true definition of living life to the fullest and the happiness you get from giving to others! Condolence From: Jeanie (Bechen) Felderman
Condolence: To the Doerr family: I am so sorry for your loss. I remember when your family moved to the neighborhood. I was so happy I was going to have a new friend. Dick was so young and I remember that blonde curly hair. What an amazing man he had grown into and was taught well by his loving parents, who are the kindest, caring people I know. Bless you all and know that you are in my prayers during this time. Last time I saw him, he was so tall (back in 2010) and he picked me up...and I had no idea who he was. He sure looks like Grandpa Doerr! Jeanie Felderman Grimes, Iowa
