Richard W  Doerr
Richard W. "Dick" Doerr, 60, of Dubuque passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at UnityPoint Health- Finley Hospital, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 12 at Holy Spirit Parish- Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m., Thursday, January 11 at the church, where a wake service will begin at 7:30 p.m. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Road is assisting the family.
Dick was born on January 17, 1957 in Dubuque, the son of William and Patricia (Kruse) Doerr. He graduated from Hempstead High School in 1975. On June 21, 1980 he married Julie Boleyn at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.
He was employed at Browns Publishing for over 35 years and ended his career at John Deere Dubuque Works.
Dick was a devoted sports fan. He loved attending Iowa Hawkeye Football games with his family, watching the Cubs at Wrigley Field and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys from home. He had a passion for the outdoors and nature.
He was passionate about taking care of others. He dedicated his time visiting the elderly and helping those in need. He always put others’ needs ahead of his own and only saw the good in people.
Dick is survived by his wife, Julie; children, Cassie (Jeff) Hiatt, Heather (P.J.) Tobin, both of Dubuque, and Tyler Doerr (Kalab Hamilton), of Cedar Falls, IA; grandchildren, Chandler Tobin, and Miles and Mila Hiatt; his mother and father, William and Patricia Doerr; siblings, Deb (Jerry) Kueter, Lynn Doerr (Aaron Baumann), Lisa (Mark) McGranahan, Craig (Lisa) Doerr and Julie Drake (Tim Ebeling), all of Dubuque; brothers and sisters-in-law, John (Diane) Boleyn, Lynn Kerth, Bill (Kathy) Boleyn, Robin Boleyn, all of Dubuque, IA and Laurie (Kevin) Dreessens, of Hazel Green, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Robert and JoAnn Boleyn; and his nephew, Jason French.
