Ruth E. Von Fumetti 75, of Dubuque, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Luther Manor. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Church of The Nativity with Rev. James Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Rd. where a parish scripture wake service will be recited at 6:30 p.m.
Ruth was born on May 7, 1942 in Guttenburg, IA, the daughter of Raymond and Amelia (Buhr) Frommelt. She graduated from St. Mary’s high school, Guttenburg, IA and received her degree from Viterbo University, LaCrosse, WI. On February 14, 1983, Ruth married Cyril W. Von Fumetti. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2012. Ruth was a medical technician having worked for many hospitals and laboratories in Chicago, Phoenix, Norfolk and Dubuque. She also owned and operated Joyous Occasions in Dubuque and enjoyed wintering in Mission, TX. She was an active member of Nativity parish and enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, going for walks, reading, playing the piano and watching her hummingbirds. Ruth adored her grandchildren and loved “hidden chocolate”.
Surviving are her children, Karla (Calvin) Staudt of Florence, SC; Viki (Steve Adams) Von Fumetti of Portland, OR; Lynn (David Hornbacher) Von Fumetti of Glenwood, CO; Mark (Wanda) Von Fumetti of Jamestown, KY; Lisa (John Hudock III) Von Fumetti of Talkeetna, AK and Jill (Doug) Henrich of Burlington, IA; her grandchildren, Miranda Ball, Frank Robert Ball IV, Josiah Ball, Kaitlin Staudt, Rachel (Michael) Badger, Ryne, John and Alec Henrich, Ceaven Von Fumetti, Lacy (Bryan) Cooper, Ben and Brittini Adams; 6 great grandchildren; her sisters Rosemary Matt of Guttenburg, IA and Esther (Fran) Goedken of Zwingle, IA; her brother-in-law Robert Schreiber of Dubuque, IA.; her nieces and nephews Bruce (Margaret) Matt, Louis Matt IV, Michaele Matt and Gary (Rae Marie) Matt, Inda (Joseph) Pawlek, Mary Ellen (Glen) Thompson, James (Renee) Schreiber, Dr. Ann Schreiber, Jeffrey (Lois) and Joel (Katie) Matt and Staci (Joe) Hahn
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril; her parents, her brother James and Gerald; her sisters Amy Matt and Jeanette Schreiber; her nephews Jay Matt and Reed Goedken and her brothers-in-law, Francis and Louis Matt.
Memorials may be given to Viterbo University, St. Mary’s Church in Guttenburg, IA or Nativity Church.
