Obituary for Edward Coleman

Edward A. Coleman, 77, of Dubuque, died Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at home. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 pm Saturday at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road followed by a funeral service at 4 pm.
Edward was born September 29, 1940 in Dubuque, son of Arthur and Luella (Pfeiler) Coleman. He attended Holy Trinity Grade School and graduated from Loras Academy.
After graduating, he served in the US Air Force from 1958 to 1962.
He married Joyce Berkley on October 3, 1964 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dubuque.
Edward worked as a firefighter for the City of Dubuque for 29 years, retiring January 1, 1993 as Assistant Chief, and was a member of the Dubuque Professional Firefighters Asscociation.
Edward loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, reading and was an avid golfer and member of Lacoma Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce Coleman of Dubuque, two children, Michael E. (special friend, Amy Wernimont) Coleman of Dubuque and Patrick J. (Rhonda) Coleman of Peosta; four grandchildren, Alexia Weidemann, Samantha (Shawn) Thomas, and Colin and Aspen Coleman; three great grandchildren, Kelsie, Brody and Brynnlee and two sisters in law, Barbara (Gary) Quinlan and Mary (Duane) Manderscheid.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law, William Berkley.
An Edward Coleman Memorial Fund has been established.
