Obituary for Mary Thelma Sbarra (Meschi)
M. Thelma Sbarra, 89, of Dubuque, formerly of California passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017 at Stonehill Care Center.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 pm. Wednesday at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date in California. Entombment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Salinas, CA.
Thelma was born April 15, 1928 in Salinas, CA, daughter of Camillo and Annunziata (Giusti) Meschi. She married Giuseppe “Joe” Sbarra. He preceded her in death Dec. 8, 1998.
She worked along side her husband on an artichoke ranch in California as a cook and bookkeeper.
Thelma was a member of the Italian Catholic Federation, a member of St. Raphael Cathedral, Dubuque, a former member of Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church, Castroville, CA and The Carmel Mission, in Carmel, CA..
Surviving is a daughter Julie (George) Casey, of Dubuque; a son, Louis Sbarra, of San Francisco, CA; and three grandchildren, Mary Casey, of Milwaukee, WI, Christopher Casey, of Maui, Hawaii; and Matthew Casey, of San Francisco, CA.
