Robert E. “Bob” Durey, 79, of Dubuque died Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Unity Point Health-Finley Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Steve Rosonke officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery where military rites will be accorded. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a parish wake service at 7:30 p.m.
Bob was born November 23, 1937, in Farley, Iowa, son of Burdette and Leona (Phillips) Durey.
After graduating from Farley High School in 1957, he served in the US Army. He then married Barbara Strong on March 4, 1961 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Bob worked at John Deere Dubuque Works for 30 years before his retirement.
He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He was also a Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 94 for many years.
Bob is survived by his wife, Barb Durey of Dubuque; three children, Julie (John) Potter of Sherrill, Robert W. Durey of Dubuque and Jennifer Waugh of Dubuque; a son in law, Richard Reynolds of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Amana and Jordan Reynolds and Taylor (fiancé Matt Nemmers) Durey; and four great-grandchildren, Aiden and Amelia Hoffman and Garrick and Aurora Fishel.
He is also survived by five siblings, Sonny (Ruth) Durey of Dubuque, Phyllis Herbstreith of Durango, Richard (Ann) Durey of Rock Island, IL, Lorraine Durey of Nampa, ID, and Donna Ware of Bigby, OK; and Barb’s siblings, Nancy (Gene) Duwe and Patricia (Wayne) Wilming, all of Dubuque.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jeanne Kay Reynolds; a granddaughter, Kelley Anne Reynolds and a sister, Marilyn Langewin.
