Linda M. Lunde, 68, of Dubuque died Friday, November 10, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospital, surrounded by close friends. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where visitation will be Thursday from 9 to 11:15 a.m. Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday in Sunset Funeral Home and Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Linda was born November 20, 1948 in Minneapolis, daughter of Norris S. and R. Mildred (Froiland) Lunde. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage.
After graduating from Marshall High School in 1966, Linda received her bachelor’s degree in education from Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, MN.
Following graduation, Linda spent her entire career teaching for the East Dubuque Public School System until her retirement in 2004. She was a life member of the National Education Association and a member of the Illinois and Jo Daviess County Retired Teachers Associations. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma education sorority.
Linda was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was an active volunteer. She also volunteered for Luther Manor, Finely Hospital and The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI).
She enjoyed having lunch with the “Lunch Bunch” and going out with the Prime Timers. Linda loved to travel and going out to eat. She was a very caring and generous person who will be missed by many.
She is survives by many friends and her church family at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William.
A memorial fund has been established and will be divided among her favorite charities.
The Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
