Madonna M  McElmeel
Madonna M. McElmeel 73, of Dubuque passed away Wednesday, November 1. 2017 at Sunnycrest Manor.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church where visitation will be held Monday from 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery where Military Rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League.
Madonna was born Jan. 16, 1944 in Oakland, CA, daughter of James P. and Helen (Siefker) McElmeel.
She attended Briar Cliff College and was employed as a nurse’s aide at various Nursing Homes.
She also served in the U.S. Army from 1970 thru 1972 and was a member of the Army Band.
Madonna was also one of the founding musicians of the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra.
Surviving is a foster sister, Sr. Ann (Finn) Pratt OP, of Ellensburg, WA.; a sister-in-law, Mary Jo McElmeel, of Dubuque; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gerald J. McElmeel; a sister, Sara M. McElmeel; and a dear friend, Marion Brielly.
The Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sunnycrest Manor.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Sunnycrest Manor for their loving care.
