Obituary for Altha Raisbeck (Dettman)

Altha "Ginger" Raisbeck, 94, of Dubuque died Friday, September 22, 2017 at home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 27 at Grand View United Methodist Church, with Rev. Thomas Shinkle officiating. Private family burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Rd. and from 9:30-10:15 a.m., Wednesday at the church.

Altha was born on April 25,1923 in Dubuque, the daughter of John Raymond and Lucille (Voelker) Dettman.

After graduation from Senior High School she began working at Adam’s Company. While working there she met her future husband, the love of her life, William “Bill” Raisbeck. They were married on February 16, 1946.

Ginger stayed home to raise their two children and then went on to work at Jefferson Junior High School for over 20 rewarding years.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Gerald) Husby and her son, David (Ellen) Raisbeck, both of Florida; grandchildren, William (Laura) Raisbeck and their children, Emma and Cassie; and Carrie (Jason) Landstrom, and their children, Taylor and J.D., all of Minnesota; and her sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Meyer, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and her brother-in-law, Robert Meyer.

In lieu of flowers an Altha Raisbeck Memorial Fund has been established. Please forward donations to the funeral home.
